Fine people of OPPO, I need your recommendations.

My sister in law is replacing her Murano (with 215k miles!!) and I’m trying to give practical recommendations for her to look at. She wants a small or medium sized CUV. She sadly does not like the 4 runner, no matter how many times I tell her and my brother to buy one. They live in CO and go to the mountains every weekend. She looked at a few Subarus and was not impressed (she might get kicked out of Colorado for that). Per her, the vehicle must have AWD and be an SUV. A sunroof and premium features would be nice and my brother would prefer something engaging since he’ll drive it every once in a while. Under 30k is preferred. My list is below:

CX-5 (too small)

Hyundai/KIA CUV

CPO RX 350

CPO GLK350/X3/Lincoln CUV/XT5/Land Rover (I’m worried about reliability)

FERD Exploder EB (she thinks it is too big)

Escape (doesn’t like it)

I think that’s all I’ve come up with. Anything I missed? I purposely left off the Rav4/CRV

Ice cream for your time:

A Used ML350 is an option.

I was thinking the GMC Terrain, but it has less cargo area than the CX-5.

A Metro!

I have nothing useful to add.

My roommate has a Terrain and I’m not sure if they really liked it. ML is a good idea. I think that’s the size she actually wants, but she likes the idea of something small

I am disappointed the choice of vehicles is not between IH Metro and Divco. That is all.

They are not huge GM fans. I showed her a few Buicks yesterday and shot them down. They have also ridden in my roommates Terrain and were meh about it

I tried really hard on a Hemi Durrango! She was not having it. I didn’t think about the Edge. I did suggest a Flex more than once. An Edge is probably similar to her 1st gen Mu rano

They both really like the XT5, so ignore my GM comment LOL. I actually told him to spend an extra 5k and just get the Caddy. They are trying to buy a house this year so it might be best to not splurge. I think it would be worth it, I’m not sure she does though.

They both work hard and make good money, so I think they deserve something nice. Especially since a used one isn’t too much more than a new Subaru.

What about the new Buick wagon? That thing in hotter than Arizona asphalt.

Grand Cherokee can be had in that range. They’re nice to drive and based on ML. under 30k CPO gets a nice capable and comfy off roader. The new Compass with pano roof and 4wd can be had under $30k too

She said it looked smooshed. LOL

I think she wants another Murano... My brother is playing happy wife, happy life. Can’t win them all, I guess...

I mentioned Jeeps but she doesn’t like them. Maybe too masculine? My brother just texted me and said she really liked a new Murano. I’m not sure why, but I’ll get details later

There is seriously something wrong with the masses like her. Just how could you wan t something that terrible?

I don’t know if I could marry someone that thought that was a good car and didn’t like a beautiful wagon.

At the same time, she said she wouldn’t care if my brother eventually got an E63 AMG wagon. So I think everything is all good. She’s just very , practical. lol

New Murano is a very attractive vehicle and the Nissan CVT is far less horrible behind the 3.5 VQ

They went with it. A/C seats and a big ass sunroof. It wouldn’t be my first choice but she really likes it so that’s what counts. And all the CVT issues should be sorted out by now.

It’s weird I always forget about it. Someone at my gym drives one so I see it a few times a week haha

The inside of the 15-18 Murano is a very nice place to sit. If I were an empty-nest homeowner between 45-60,  with household income in the $ 90-140K range it would definitely be on the list.
